HISTORY AND BRAND INFLUENCES

I’m from San Clemente, CA. I started shaping about three years ago, and have been inspired from shapers like Tommy Witt, Ryan Burch, Josh Martin and Donald Takayama. I love how these guys have learned to make boards that fit the mellow waves of Southern California. My goal is to make fast and controllable boards like they have.

Kookapinto Shapes Aesthetic

My favorite surfer is Tommy Witt, and he has really inspired me over the years to break the mold from traditional longboards and blend some speedy aspects into our boards. Lately, we have been working on some really thin boards, while lower rocker and rails to maintain speed. They have been getting us psyched on surfing average waves!

CURRENTLY RIDING

I grew up only riding thrusters, and then got into single fins, and now I am the most stoked on twin fins. I love taking certain aspects from logs, and blending them with fishy boards to create something that can nose ride, yet also fly through turns. My favorite is a 7’6 Thin Twin that is 22.5” wide and 2.0” thick.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO SURF?

Anywhere away from the crowd. Lately that has been the plentiful beach breaks of Oceanside, CA.
