SurfBored launched in January 2021, as a way to bring independent surfboard shapers some of the e-commerce tools and benefits typically exclusive to the big brands and, in turn, exposing them to a larger audience via our marketing. Being a shaper and running your own brand is no easy task–competition is high and margins are low. To make it more than just a hobby one must truly be passionate about the craft.
Nearly a year later, in December 2021, we launched Fin+, our unique fin subscription membership to help customers get the most out of the boards by offering way to explore the multitude of different fin designs. While fins are often overlooked when you’re starting on your surfing journey, when (and if) you experiment you realize just how big of a difference they make. To put it simply, a bad fin can make a good board shit, and a good fin can make crappy board fly. You can read more about the memberships specificshere.
As for myself, I have joined as the Editor here at SurfBored and will help deliver quality information and storytelling via our journal, newsletters, and Instagram. We’ve got a lot of cool projects in the works that we are stoked to share as soon as the time is right. In the mean time, we promise not to blow up your inbox or feed with needless shit–I think we could all use less e-mails in our lives.
We are grateful to be working with such a rad crew of shapers, from legends like Simon Jones, who have decades of experience under their planers, to the new generation of youngbloods like Ryan Burch, Tyler Warren, Corey Colapinto, Kris Hall, Matt Pagan, Kyle Albers, and Derrick Disney to name a few.
Our goal is to create and share content that tell the stories of our shapers and their craft in a way that keeps you excited to see us pop up in your inbox and social feed.
